Powell asks students to participate in Women’s Voting Exhibit

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Jena Powell (R-Arcanum) today encouraged students in her district to participate in Building the Movement: America’s Youth Celebrate 100 Years of Women’s Right to Vote. The Office of First Lady Melania Trump recently announced the creation of this exhibit, which will honor the centennial anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment.

The exhibit is set to launch this August and will showcase artwork that depicts individuals, objects, and events representing the women’s suffrage movement. The First Lady is asking young Americans in grades 3 to 12 from across the United States and its territories to submit artwork displaying this historic milestone.

One submitted artwork from each state and territory will be chosen to appear alongside images of women’s suffrage parades, marches, and gatherings that took place at or around the White House.

“This is a fantastic way for our students to learn more about the 19th Amendment and celebrate its centennial anniversary,” said Powell. “It would be an honor if a student from our community was chosen to represent Ohio in this exhibit.”

All applicants will receive a thank you note signed by the First Lady. Entries must be received by July 6 at 5 p.m. For more information about the exhibit, please visit https://bit.ly/2BZCccs
